19 years ago on November 17th 2004, my twin brother Nick Marsalek left this world suddenly and tragically early. Coming out of the sessions that produced the album B4uDie, released on March 2022, Lay To Rest is one of a handful of tunes that weren't ready, needed more production or couldn't fit on the album. This one, like all these tracks around this session, go out to Nick and the rest of of us among the living. The song challenges us to gather strength, to persevere, to push, and not look back too long. We don't know how much time we have and have to make the most of it. RIP Nick and here's to living life to the fullest.
lyrics
All the people in the world will find a way
To unite and then we will stand up
Stand up
Lay to rest
You gotta stand up
All the people in the world will find a way
To unite and then we will stand up
Stand up
Lay to rest
You gotta stand up
Living for just one and only one
Can’t be the way to spend our lives
Wasting away
With all our cash and things
But there is so much more
Right around the bend
We have to look into the light
Step into the divide
Lay to rest
You gotta stand up
All the people in the world will find a way
To unite and then we will stand up
Stand up
Lay to rest
You gotta stand up
All the people in the world will find a way
To unite and then we will stand up
Stand up
Lay to rest you gotta stand up
Aim to be
You have unique ability
Born to be
Growing up with the lion inside
Step into the divide
Lay to rest
You have to stand up
All the people in the world will find a way
To unite then we can stand up
Stand up
Lay to rest
You gotta stand up
All the people in the world will find a way
To unite then you can stand up
Stand up
Lay to rest
You gotta stand up
Oh yeah
